National Sorry Day

National Sorry Day is marked each year on 26 May. This day commemorates the tabling of the 1997 Bringing Them Home Report, which acknowledged and detailed the removal of Aboriginal children from their families under racist and cruel assimilation policies, known as the Stolen Generations.

Wattle Place is here to support all those who, as children, were placed in children’s homes, orphanages and similar institutions where they often experienced severe and widespread mistreatment.  We acknowledge those little children and acknowledge the courage, strength and tenacity it took to survive and live beyond those experiences.
