If you don’t feel you need crisis support, but are feeling anxious or stressed, you may like to try some mindfulness or relaxation techniques.
A couple of examples, you could try if you have a smart phone are:
Bilateral Music Therapy
Bilateral stimulation music refers to auditory stimuli that alternates between the left and right ears, engaging both hemispheres of the brain. This technique, often used in therapeutic settings, aims to enhance cognitive processing, emotional regulation, and sensory integration.
It is a therapeutic sound that helps both sides of the brain work together. It’s like a musical workout for the brain, encouraging better communication between different parts. Imagine it as a friendly dance for the mind, helping it stay fit and coordinated.
By encouraging synchronized brain function, it can improve focus, sensory processing, and adaptive responses, making it a valuable tool in enhancing cognitive and emotional well-being.
Breathing Apps.
For example, the “Breathe” App is a mindfulness and relaxation tool, guiding you through a range of breathing exercises tailored to your needs. It has 3 default breathing exercises: Equal Breathing: helps you to relax, focus, and be present.
- Box Breathing: also known as four-square breathing, is a simple and highly effective technique for stress relief.
- 4-7-8 Breathing: also called “The Relaxing Breath” promotes better sleep. The exercise is described as a natural tranquilizer for the nervous system that eases the body into a state of calmness.
You can also create your own custom breathing patterns as well.
It, along with other Breathing Apps, can be downloaded for iphone or Android devices.
