National Redress Support Service

As a National Redress Support Service provider, Wattle Place offers free and confidential support to people who experienced institutional child sexual abuse and are applying, or are thinking of applying, to the National Redress Scheme (the Scheme).

We can guide you through the process, and provide counselling to support you through your interaction with the Scheme. We provide:

  • Someone to talk to who understands
  • Trauma informed support throughout the process of engaging with the Scheme,
  • Information about the Scheme and answers to questions, to enable you to make an informed choice about whether to apply
  • Help to prepare, write and submit your application, if you choose
  • Work with knowmore and other services to ensure a thorough,
    well-prepared application
  • Help to understand the Redress outcome at the end of the process

Wattle Place previously supported people impacted by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. We specialise in assisting people who have been traumatised by experiences in their childhood and provide safe and inclusive support for people from all backgrounds.

The National Redress Support Service is a 100% free service for eligible people. You do not need a referral.

How we can help you

100% free service

You will pay nothing through the whole National Redress process. Some law firms have been charging a percentage of your Redress payment to help you with your application. Wattle Place will assist you at no cost and will not take any of your payment.

A dedicated person to support you through out your engagement with the National Redress Scheme

After a simple registration process, you will be matched with a dedicated worker, who will be your main point of contact and provide ongoing support to you throughout the Redress process. They will help you decide whether or not to apply, giving you all the relevant information so you can make the decision that is best for you. If you choose to apply, your worker will help you complete the application, and support you until you get the outcome. Finally, they will help you understand the next steps once you receive an outcome. They provide personalised support specific to your needs.

Appropriately qualified and experienced workers

Our counsellors and caseworkers specialise in supporting people who experienced abuse in childhood. They understand the trauma that can result from childhood abuse and the challenges that the Redress process may present. Their goal is to make the process as easy for you as possible.
